Setting Planet Nitronix
Date Before the Breakout

Mission: The Ice Planet is a story about Boost Team's expedition to the planet Nitronix where they face one of their toughest challenges yet.

Plot[]

Hero Factory has discovered a rather strange planet on the outskirts of the galaxy. From what research they could gather, they originally concluded the planet was mainly composed of ice and was nothing but a barren wasteland. The only odd thing was that the planet itself seemed to spark with energy and caused other strange anomalies. The Factory has dispatched a team of Heroes to travel to and explore Nitronix for further investigation. The team, Boost Team, will have to prepare themselves because the planet is not the uninhabited place it seems to be.

Prologue[]

"There are heroes coming sir, our plan is in danger."

"Yes I know...they must not learn of the plan, or us."

"I understand sir, but what if they do find...eh, hints?"

"Then we must launch our plan into action soon...We must make them believe this planet is nothing, then we will destroy them."

"Yes sir, and what of our agent in Hero Factory?"

"...already on his way..."

Chapter 1 - The Expedition[]

"So let me get this straight, we're on our way to a relatively new discovered planet, where there may be dangers beyond our imagination, not to mention we could die there of unknown causes," said Prazz. Boost Team was seated in a ship on it's way to Nitronix. Leader Nick Boost sat in the cockpit with the pilot, while heroes Prazz, Basher, Dash, and Dart sat behind.

"Yep, pretty much buddy. is that alright with you?" asked Titro, he sat across from Prazz, cross-legged with a chilled expression. Prazz took a moment to think, then exclaimed "alright, that's awesome!" and everyone laughed.

"We're coming up on Nitronix," Said Boost, "better get ready, because it's going to get chilly."

"Well that's just great. I don't know what I hate more, snow, or sitting crammed in the back of this hero-craft-thing," groaned Basher, "I'm dying back here."

"Oh boy, this is like the time we discovered that other jungle planet we thought was Quatros," said Dart. Boost replied "Sure, except this time, we've been assigned to explore the planet,"

The ship continued to zoom through space, inching closer to the icy planet. The air turned frigid immediately as it entered the atmosphere. Frost began to form on the windows, and each hero gave a brief shiver.

"Prepare for landing," said the pilot bot. The ship whirred and chirped nonstop as the pilot worked the controls. The rookies, Prazz and Dash held on to their seats for dear life, and the others did just about the same. Then the turbulence cleared, and the view of a snow covered landscape was revealed to the heroes. Snow swirled around as the ship settled onto the planet's surface.

"Dang," Dash whispered as he looked out the window, "a dream come true."

"Welcome to Nitronix boys," said Boost as he stood to open up the door.

"Speaking of boys, how come there aren't any girls on our team?" asked Prazz.

"Because if there was even a picture of a girl around you lot, you'd all be falling for her," answered Boost. A switch clicked, the ramp in the back of the ship opened up, and the heroes filed out onto Nitronix.

"They are here sir, they landed to the far southwest of us."

"Indeed they have...our agent should be nearby as well."

"And if not?"

"If not what?"

"If our agent didn't succeed in his mission...sir."

"Oh, I know he accomplished his mission, his life depended on it."

"Very well, sir, so what now?"

"...we wait..."

Chapter 2 - The Ice Planet[]

The heroes began observing the land as they exited the ship to find an incredible view: a world of ice, untouched and empty, and free of heroes or villains.

"What an amazing scenery" said Dart, he took a minute to take in the icy breeze. A few of the others did so as well, then they were back to scanning the surrounding area. Boost stepped out of the ship after talking to the pilot, and felt relieved to see Boost Team ready to work. He called out to everyone saying "alright guys, the ship's not going anywhere, so let's spread out to cover more ground."

"This place is amazing, sir!" exclaimed Dash, he then turned and picked up a handful of snow to test.

"The only problem is there's nothing else around but snow!" said Basher.

"Oh lighten up muscles." replied Prazz, and with that, the exploration continued.

Hours later, the heroes returned back to the ship reporting nothing out of the ordinary, as far as they knew. They were heading inside when Titro called out "What was that?"

Boost and Prazz went over to Titro and left the others inside. Titro was rooted to the spot, looking out in one direction with his binoculars. Prazz asked "What happened? Did you see something?"

"Yes, well actually, I felt a really weird chill go down my back. Then I was frozen to this spot as I was turning to check. When I looked my vision went blurry and the next thing I knew, someone, or something, ran away in the distance." Explained Titro.

" Well, whatever it was, it's gone now. Could that have been a clue to the strange anomalies?" asked Prazz, for a moment he had a frightened look in his eyes.

"Maybe, but it's impossible to search for it now," said Boost, "It's getting late...and there's heavier snowfall." Just as he said, the snowfall had picked up, and the wind was growing harsher. The icy buildup was making it harder for the heroes to stay functional.

Prazz shifted a little and said "I think my circuits are freezing up, if we stay out here for too long, we'll all-""Shut down, yeah. We should head back into the ship and wait until morning." finished Titro. The other two nodded and Boost led the way back.

"This is insane! How do we explore a planet that's nothing, and near impossible to be explored?" Basher said as Boost explained the plan for the next day.

"We wait. I'm sure conditions will be better by morning." said Dart.

The heroes moved lazily around the ship as they waited. The floor was littered with puddles of water and melting ice, and the lights grew dim as the solar energy slowly drained.

"Sir, I believe the heroes are on to us. They haven't done anything, they could be scheming."

"Do you really think they would notice any trace of us within what...4 hours? No, they are nothing..."

"Fine then, what about the agent, you said he'd be here soon...sir..."

"Yes, he is near, X-Chill, you will go fetch him for me, right?"

"Wha-where is he? Um, yes I will, sir."

"Where else, out hiding in the heroes' ship..."

Chapter 3: An Icy Encounter[]

Part 1[]

The sound woke the heroes better than a bolt of lightning. A menacing grunt, a clank of metal, then an explosion that rocked the entire ship. Basher was up already, as he was on guard, but he was just as surprised as the others.

"What is it? What do we do?" asked Prazz.

"What eve is out there has us trapped in here like ice fish in a barrel!" exclaimed Dart. Dash replied in a confused manner "Ice what? Fish like you describe don't exi-"

"Never mind that, it was an expression!" said Basher, "Do you see anything out there?"

Boost and Prazz were up at the window, searching through the falling snow outside. Prazz replied "Nothing, at least not right here."

There was a moment of silence before Boost said "Alright, here's what we're going to do: Basher, you and Dart get out there and scan the area, I'll be out in a moment, but be cautious, I don't want anyone hurt; Dash, stay here with the pilot, and keep the ship safe; Titro, make sure everything is still up and running here."

"What about me?" asked Prazz.

"You're.....you're out with us kid." said Boost.

Dart and Basher were out in the snow, scanning all they could. Dart called out "No heat signatures, not even a sign of a figure, big or small."

"...ungh, nothing..." muttered Basher, then he suddenly felt memories flood his mind. Memories of snow and ice, death and guilt. He almost fell over in the snow when Dart rushed over to support him.

"Hey, you doing o.k.? You don't look so cool, and that's saying something." said Dart. Basher took a moment to snap back, but then responded "Yeah I'm fine. Come on, we've got to search."

Boost and Prazz joined the two as they continued to search. Time went by with no results, and the group traveled out further from the ship. Dart turned to look at the ground in front of him when he said "Woah, wait...there's something, something here!" with a bit of hesitation.

The others rushed over and Dart explained "Uh-um, there's something, maybe someone, under this spot, about the size of one of us."

"How far down?" asked Boost.

"A solid 2 to 3 feet down, don't suppose we have any drills eh?" joked Dart.

"You know what, I got this, " said Basher, "Step aside tootsie-pops."

With that, he stepped back and then punched the ground hard with his fist. Ice flew everywhere, as if an explosive had gone off, but that's not what surprised the heroes the most.

"Splitface?!?!" exclaimed the heroes. Basher and Dart had been thrown to the ground from the force of the blow. Prazz and Boost stumbled back in surprise.

"Gaaah! You know, most people would ask to knock, but this is ridiculous!" the villain yelled. Meanwhile, Boost took no time in barrel-rolling to the side and firing his dart shooters.

"Gaah, pesky heroes, why can't we ever catch a break?" Splitface snarled, then dove straight for Boost as he was shooting. Prazz then took action, and threw himself into Splitface's wake. The two tumbled into the snow, and Prazz was able to cuff the villain.

"Surprisingly easier than I thought it would be, heh..." Prazz exclaimed.

"Aww man, not again!" said Splitface.

"Ugh, I told you hiding on undiscovered planets was bad."

"Well you know what, I suggested we hide on Quatros or Talos5, but noooo."

"Oh just forget about it..."

"Well you two can talk it over on the way back to the ship." said a triumphant Prazz. Just then, he suddenly twitched, and electrical shortages could be heard. Meanwhile Dart and Basher has gotten up during the small fight. Dart exclaimed "That's not good," he checked himself for the same problems "We've been out too long. We have to get back to the ship before we all freeze up."

"Not again..." said Basher. Then the group began heading back towards the ship, which was very far off at the time.

"So, Splitface was the one causing all the ruckus here." said Dart.

"I guess so, just plain idiots being idiots. But how and what were they doing?" said Boost. Splitface spoke up in an angered voice "What? Strange things going on because of us? Last time I checked we had buried ourselves in the snow for the time being."

Basher replied "Whatever, now shut up, you're starting to annoy me...even more than the freeze-ups I'm feeling now. At least we can go back and res-"

Basher was cut off by an urgent message from back at the ship.

"Boost, Dart, anyone, help! Something's gone wrong here!" exclaimed Dash, he was in panic and studdered with his words.

"What's going on?" asked Prazz. Dash answered "The pilot and I are fine, but we heard something in the back, Titro may be in trouble, I'm going to go see wha-"

The connection went out. The four heroes exchanged looks, then began racing back towards the ship.

Part 2[]

The mysterious figure sat silently in the cargo-hold of the ship. They have noticed something. He thought. Surely if it's X-Chill, they'll all be dead soon. He turned with a grin, then began to crawl towards the door leading to the front of the ship. Time to rendevous. But then the door opened and Titro came through, the figure frowned. Ugh, that that's it, no more waiting. With that, he jumped out of the shadows and tackled Titro. Titro struggled, only managing to hit empty air and metal cargo cases, sending loud clanks throughout the ship. He had the hero pinned, he could end his life right then and there, but then he heard someone talking up in front. Well, can't have someone sending out a distress call, time to go. He hit Titro hard on the head and rushed out the door, closing it behind him.

Boost, Basher, Dart, and Prazz raced towards the ship, slowly getting closer. Splitface was dragged on the ground as Prazz trudged through the snow. They could see the ship in the distance, one of the windows was just broken, and a figure jumped out to meet a larger figure.

Boost shouted "Hey! Who are you? Stop!"

Unfortunately, like most villains would, the figures ran off, away from the ship. Basher and Boost then sped up, calling for the Dash and Titro. Prazz, Dart, and Splitface lagged behind. Then suddenly, Dart tripped, falling flat in the snow. Boost turned to notice, but Prazz yelled "Go, just go!"

"Uhh, might want to take a look back!" said Dart. Coming in the distance was a massive snowstorm.

"Everyone, back to the ship, now!" Yelled Boost. Prazz picked up Dart and began sprinting with what energy he had left.

"Wait, wa-wait, don't leave us, ju-just unchain us! Don't leave us here!!!" called out Splitface. Prazz looked back as he ran away and said "I'm sorry! I have to go!"

The heroes reached the ship as the storm was seconds away.

"Pilot, get us out of here!" said Boost right as he rushed in, until he realized the problem.

"The pilot's dead." said Dash, he was pretty beaten up himself. Prazz then dove in, with Dart. He managed to say with what little breath he had "I'm sorry Boost...had to...leave Splitface..."

"That's the least of our problem's boy!" said Basher, who was quickly barracading the ship. Boost was in shock, trying to make sense of what was happening.

"Boost, we're out of time!" yelled Basher. Boost turned to the doorway to see the storm right on them. Together, he and Basher dove back as the storm hit. The blast knocked everyone unconcious, and the ship was buried and out of sight by morning.

"Report."

"The transmitter is in place, sir, we're ready."

"Very good, you did well, Macronin."

"Would've gone smoother if X-Chill here had made sure all the heroes were dead."

"Hey, I don't think you would've survived without me."

"Enough, now, about those heroes."

"Excuse me sir, not to barge in, but I assume the heroes perished in the storm as well."

"Excellent, then we won't be pressed for time..."

Chapter 4: Understanding the Situation[]

Boost awoke to find the ship was flooded with snow, and only a small area was open to move around in. He looked to his left to find Prazz and Dart laying unconcious next to him on the floor (or what was left of it). What have we gotten ourselves into? he thought. He continued to look around, noticing Basher and Dash already up and about. He also realized that the others had buried the pilot and set up a memorial, of course, it wasn't very well done since it was composed of ice and metal. After working out a few aches in his joints, Boost got up and went to alert the others that he was awake.

Boost approached Basher, who was hard at work trying to break the surface of the ice from what looked to him like the entrance of the ship, now merely an opening to a frozen barrier. Dash turned and jumped at seeing Boost, but he quickly said "Oh, sorry to sneak up on you guys, are you two alright?"

Basher turned and replied "Yeah, we're fine. Good to see you up. As you can see we've already...cleaned up a bit."

The three went to sit on a pile of ice.

"The ice is thawing out," Basher motioned to the spot he had been working on, "We should hit the surface soon."

Boost answered "Good, thanks for sorting that all out you two. Unfortunately, this isn't our only problem, so we're going to have to figure out what to- hold on...where's Titro"

Just as Boost mentioned the hero, the door to the cargo hold burst open, blasting snow everywhere. Out came Titro yelling "Hey! Intruder! Some idiot snuck up on me, knocked me out by hitting me on the head! Where the he- woah, what happened when I was out?"

Boost brought Titro up to date and explained the snowstorm, Splitface, and the mysterious figures. The other two gave their input as well, then Boost asked "Dash, you were there when whoever it was escaped. What happened?"

The rookie took a minute to think then he began:

Dash was sitting quietly in his seat, the pilot was checking the controls up in front. He watched the snow fall extremely fast outside, and said aloud "I hope the others are alright. This is an insane snowstorm."

Suddenly, he heard a crash in the back, followed by the sound of someone coming closer.

"Titro? Is that you?" he called. He thought What is going on here?. He started towards the door with his weapon raised, and noticed the pilot had grabbed a handgun from his seat. He quickly looked around to make sure nothing else was around, and the next thing he knew, he had been shoved to the ground and stomped on by a fast-moving figure. Then the worst happened, the figure jumped off of him, and slashed the pilot (who had fired only a few shots) in the chest.

Dash was too battered to get up, and the murderer ran out the door. Soon after, Basher had arrived, Boost and Prazz running in after, and then the snowstorm hit.

Dash finished his story, then left it to the others to make sense of it.

"So, how the heck did a villain, yeah I'm calling him a villain, hitch a ride on our ship, fully aware of our mission to Nitronix, and get out all without any of us aware of him?!" exclaimed Basher.

"Then I guess it wasn't Splitface, unless the two, or three counting that buddy of his." said Boost

"Wait a second, Splitface was out there? Hmm, it's not like him to associate with others. He was probably just a coincidence." said Titro, "Wait another second, where is he now?"

"I left him out there, I had to pick up Dart and couldn't take them both." said Prazz, he and Dart had finally woken up. Everyone jumped at his response. He continued and said "He's probably dead now."

Dash stared and muttered "I couldn't save the pilot, there wasn't anything I could do."

Boost patted them both on the back, saying "It's ok, we've all had that gut-busting feeling of guilt."

"Well, now that we have all of that sorted out, we have new problems: one, there's villains on the loose; two, there's more than just us on this planet; three, we're stranded; four, our pilot's dead, and out ship is buried; and five, we don't have any communicators or electrical equipment." explained an angered Basher.

"Well, we're not completely resource-less," said Titro, he then led the group into the cargo hold, then opened one of the multiple crates inside, revealing a number of materials the team would have used for their mission.

"Tools, extra weapons, even single-use core rechargers!" exclaimed Prazz, the others looked in awe. Basher then called out in excitement "And best of all, a nice mini motorcycle!"

Chapter 5: The Challenge Ahead[]

Basher broke the surface of the ice with a solid punch. Soon after, the heroes began carrying out supplies and salvaging what they could. The remains of the ship were barely visible, and only the tip of the wing was visible above the snow. Morning had come, and to the team's surprise, it was seemingly clear of snowfall, as daylight lit up the landscape.

"See, told you it'd be fine by morning." chuckled Dart.

"Yeah, too bad we had to face a storm, and become stranded." grumbled Basher.

"So...which way do we go?" asked Prazz. Titro replied "Well, our best chance is to follow that rogue villains, who according to our analysis, ran off in that general direction," he gestured towards a mountain range in the distance, "It appears they went due north, but that means nothing since this planet is uncharted."

The heroes exchanged looks, then Basher said "Well how do we know the two didn't turn off a couple of miles ahead, or even die in the storm?"

Boost replied "These guys obviously knew we were coming, otherwise he probably would've picked an easier ride out of Hero Factory. We can bet at least one of them knows their way around, so you guys can think what you like, but this is our best shot."

Basher sighed "If that's our only option for survival, so be it."

Dash then replied "Well technically, there are several ways we can survive, one being us sacrificing one another to-"

"Nevermind Dash" laughed Titro, then the others laughed as well.

Everyone else nodded with approval, then packed what they could and set out towards the mountains, leaving their buried ship.

They traveled for hours, stopping every once in a while to rest, but just barely enough to really settle down. Soon the sky began to darken, and snow started to fall once again, only this night it wasn't so harsh. The heroes used what they could (mainly scraps of metal, wood, and dug out snow) to create a fort to stay in for the time being.

Hours passed, everyone took turns keeping watch, but none of them really thought there was anything out there. As the team rested, they could faintly hear grunts and pounding sounds through the howling winds. Everyone got up, but Boost, who was on watch, told them to stay down. Of course, none of them listened and instead went over to check. They all looked in awe as a group of large creatures passed by, trudging through the snow without seeming to care.

"They're Senthols!" exclaimed Titro, "Tall species, but completely harmless."

The others stared as the creatures walked on, leaving a trail of footsteps. Even Basher was surprised to see natural forms of life.

"I've only known of these types of animals living in extreme heat environments, but these are the complete opposite, Ice Senthols." said Titro, he then snapped a few pictures with his helmet's camera.

"You know, maybe we have this all wrong. Maybe we aren't just here to explore, maybe there is a greater plot, but these Senthols remind us of the simpler things, not complex missions like evil plans of nefarious villains. We may not find our way off this planet, but it really is a place of wonder." said Boost, the rest of the heroes nodded, still in awe at the group now inching further and further away.

Morning came, and once again, Boost Team set out due north, still weary of where exactly they were headed. Another day passed, and still, they traveled and found nothing but open land. They were loosing hope, they were loosing supplies, and their pace was slowing.

Basher was finally fed up with everything and yelled out "There's nothing, nothing at all, just like always. It's still what we thought before, A BARREN WASTELAND!"

He was right, there was nothing but snow, mountains of ice, and more snow, no signs of life in sight. It had been so long that none of the heroes could even think to go back and try finding the group of Senthols.

Boost spoke up and said "There must be something, anything, just...something..."

If there was any hope of finding anything at all left among the heroes, it finally payed off, because Prazz noticed something out of the corner of his vision. Something was closing in behind Boost, fast. Apparently Basher had noticed Prazz's worried expression, he suddenly shouted out "Boost, behind you!"

Boost turned just in time to see a tiger-like beast jump ad tackle him to the ground. It roared in his face as Boost grunted while trying to break free. Basher shoved the beast off with a mighty blow and quickly helped his fellow hero up.

Meanwhile, Titro, Prazz, Dart, and Dash had surrounded the beast, all weapons raised.

"Think it's friendly?" asked Prazz.

"Well, judging by the way it's behaving, I would say no-" Dash was finishing his remark when the beast lunged at him. Prazz was able to block him and stumbled back, catching a glimpse of the creature's mouth and sharp set of teeth. Titro shot the beast with a single plasma shot. The animal then howled in pain, then turned and ran off back in the direction it came from.

"Sorry, we didn't have any tranquilizer darts." joked Titro. The heroes regrouped, and quickly decided to follow the beast in hopes of finding more life. They packed up, at a much faster pace than before, and started jogging down the path of footprints.

"Follow the beast, in hopes of finding more beasts?! Ah, what the heck, this is all going whack." said Basher. He then picked up the last of the supplies and went to catch up with the others.

Chapter 6: Disastrous Mountains[]

Part 1[]

"Mountains...there's always mountains..." sighed Basher. Boost Team had found their way to the mountains, where they lost track of the sabertooth they were following. Dart had been calculating the size of the mountain, and said "It's impossible to measure if nobody's ever been here to record it. I suppose it's, well I just don't know, thousands of feet let's just stick with that."

"Well, you know it's bad when the smartest of us is stumped," commented Prazz, "I don't think there are any true safe passages around, or over this thing."

"Hold on, what's up with the mountain summit? It's solid ice!" exclaimed Titro, "The snow must have built up and hardened over time."

"Wait a second, shouldn't there be more free snow the further up? Otherwise this thing is just standing frozen in time. Ah, ugh, this doesn't make any sense." It took a few seconds for Prazz to realize the pun he had just made.

"Well, whatever sort of reversed mountain-thing it is, I still don't want to climb it." said Basher, he shook his head in frustration.

"Well if everyone's finished giving their thoughts, we can start our way up, and hope for the best." said Boost. He went to check the number remaining supplies, which was surprisingly still high. Meanwhile, the others took the time to sit and prepare for the brutal test to come. Titro was observing the mountain with his binoculars when he spotted something that caused him to check not twice, but three times. He had seen a person, for real, someone was laying on a ledge of the mountain, staring right at Boost Team.

Titro's discovery had him so excited that he fell on his way to alerting the others. He exclaimed "Guys, guys! There's someone on the mountain, watching us!"

The others were up fast, desperate to have Titro's words ring true. Basher scanned the mountain, and called out "I see him! I really do! He's on the move!"

The figure was on the move, climbing higher and higher from his original spot.

"We'll never catch up to him, he'll be at the summit and on the other side within an hour or so." said Dart.

"We go now, we can't just let him go. Maybe we can catch him if he stops at the top without knowing we're coming up." said Boost, he was ready faster than the others, and seemed to grasp the situation with far less worry. Prazz spoke up and asked "Think you can fly up there on your own?"

"No, my jetpack won't have enough juice to get me up there, let alone back." Boost replied. Dash then said "Also because his jetpack could malfunction as he gets higher into conditions we aren't aware of-"

"Oh come on!" said Prazz. He looked and saw the figure still climbing. Boost finally said "Well, let's go, that guy can be our salvation!"

An hour passed, Boost Team was climbing steadily up the ice cold mountain. They has already passed the ledge where their suspect had been. There they found only a few scraps of metal and equipment. Titro paused to look around and said "This is ridiculous, we're too tired, and we have a very slim chance of catching that guy."

Still, they continued to scale to mountain and didn't rest until they found a place sturdy enough to stay. As they rested in an indent of the mountain, nobody spoke. Boost Team was exhausted.

"Once we reach the summit, we should get a good view of the other side, and hopefully we'll find our culprit." explained Boost, the others only nodded before preparing to climb again. The next morning, the heroes had reached the summit, and were shocked by what they found.

Part 2[]

"I'm starting to think we're meant to die here." said Prazz.

The group stared out at a near exact replica of the landscape behind them. Snow-covered land stretched for miles, and it didn't help the team's motivation one bit. Boost sighed "Well, whoever we were chasing, they're out of our reach."

The mountain peak itself was empty, no signs of the one the heroes were following. Titro sat on a mound of ice, as did the others, and said "He certainly knew we were on to him, so our chances were slim, but I'm surprised he didn't set any-"

"It's a trap!!!" yelled Prazz. Swarms of spider-like creatures started to come out of what seemed to be the mountain of ice itself. They immediately began attacking the heroes.

"Uh, ack, what do we do?" Dart called out. Basher grunted "Not sure, but whatever these things are-ungh! They sure put up a fight!" He then punched several creatures out of the air.

"Down the mountain, now!" yelled Boost. The others made their way down, charging through the swarm of spiders.

"Aaaahh!" screamed Dash, he ran for his life as numerous spiders closed in on him. Basher then jumped in and roundhouse kicked the creatures, then shoved Dash along muttering "Not on my watch."

"There's too many to outrun!" exclaimed Prazz. He noticed Titro half buried, and ran to help.

"We have to keep moving, fast!" Titro panted, Basher stepped in and said "You want fast, I have a solution!"

He pulled out the motorcycle activator. Boost called out "Not the time, just run!"

The heroes took what openings they could and split from the swarm, running as fast as they could. Suddenly, a faint rumble erupted in the distance. They looked bask to find the sound wasn't only from the mass of spiders, but not an avalanche had formed.

"There is no way we are outrunning that!" screamed a worried Dart. Boost desperately searched for a place to hide. Thankfully, Basher exclaimed "Boost! There's an indent up ahead, that's our only chance, because we're loosing ground!"

With that, the team made a mad dash to from what they could tell was a small cave opening downhill. Everyone was on the brink of panicking, racing through the snow with an avalanche of snow and spiders.

They finally made it, but only too late. Dart and Dash had been caught and swept away, Basher almost tripped, but managed to meet the others. The remaining four stumbled down to the cave, just as the avalanche crashed behind them. The roar made things even worse, making everything else impossible to hear. Basher yelled as loud as he could "I can't believe we're doing this again, dive!"

They all dove into the opening, and just like the snowstorm, everything was buried.

Chapter 7: Question and Answer[]

"Gaah, we're trapped!" exclaimed Basher, only to realize he was in complete darkness. The small cave the heroes took refuge in was sealed with an impenetrable wall of ice. It was also near pitch-black if it wasn't for the small lights of the heroes cores (and multiple whirring mechanics). There was a grunt, Basher turned to the nearest lit up core and asked "Titro, that you?"

After speaking up, the red and white hero realized there wasn't really a point in asking. Then he heard the unmistakeable voice of Boost.

"Dart and Dash, they're gone, I saw them swept away by the avalanche." Now the visible hero cores were moving toward each other, and the heroes were re-associated with one another. Both Titro and Prazz were there in addition to Boost and Basher. Luckily, Prazz had a mini light on hand, only it was barely bright enough for the heroes to see. Soon after, they were in deep thought formulating a new plan.

"Well, one thing's for sure, we're dead in the water," said Titro, "All our supplies are gone, besides what we have on our backs."

Prazz spoke up with a slight shiver in his voice "So this is true survival..."

After saying that, all four heroes shifted uneasily.

"Ok, first things first, we need to find a way out of here, unless you want to spend the rest of your time here waiting for the planet itself to melt." said Boost, his determined expression returned and gave the others a little more hope, "Now assuming the avalanche wasn't too large, we should-"

Something stumbled in the darker side of the cave. Prazz held the light out, revealing footprints not that of any of the heroes. They gestured to each other to spread out. After a few seconds of silence, Basher said aloud "Alright, be ready."

"I see him, I got him." the bulky hero said confidently. Then he jumped into the shadows yelling "Hah!"

He didn't catch anything, but the plan worked., because in another part of the cave, someone jumped at Basher's attack. Boost lunged in the direction of the startled figure, and dragged out his (very surprised) target.

"Good call Basher" said Boost. The culprit struggled and writhed to get free, but the leader of Boost Team didn't let up one bit. Still using a dimly lit light, the others gathered around to see their catch.

"Who are you and why were you spying on us?" said Titro, he had one weapon raised, but Basher standing beside him looked much more intimidating to the suspect. He didn't respond.

"Was this the one you saw on the mountain?" asked Boost, still keeping a tight grip. Titro replied "Yep. He caused all this if you think about it."

Prazz stepped forward to take a closer look, then gave a slight scowl. Basher then said "Alright, spill you secrets or spill your parts and hero oil, you've got to the count of three."

The spy looked around at the surrounding heroes. Nobody was giving him any sympathy. Basher raised his fist, ready to strike. "Two."

Silence.

Titro thought to himself This punk is scared, but he's got will...but why does he seem so familiar?

"One."

The spy finally gave in, speaking and stuttering uncontrollably fast "ok, ok! I'm from another planet, I was on a scouting mission, L-l-like you! B-b-but my ship crashed into the mountain, and i was s-stranded for a few days, and I was desprate to find signs of a-anything. Life, civilization. Eventually I found you come along, b-but I-I-I don't know why I ran when you spotted me, alright? A-and that avalanche of spiders and snow and such, I didn't cause that! P-p-please..."

The spy looked as if he was about to burst into tears. It was at that point when Basher loosened up and said "Alright, now that wasn't so hard now huh? Now first of all, calm-the heck-down boy. Second, how did you crash, where are you from, and how did we all end up here now?"

The spy looked up and said "I'm from a planet close to Hero Factory, I had a vehicle malfunction, and it's only a coincidence we're all here now."

Titro was staring intently, and finally said "He's lying, you don't look like anyone in the local area, although...never mind."

Basher tightened his fist and delivered a mighty blow to the spy's chest. The spy gave a howl of pain and dropped to his knees (of which he had gotten up from minutes ago). Boost loosened his grip and let him fall, assuming he wouldn't be going anywhere. Prazz and Titro sat back down to continue making a plan.

"Strike one man, now how just tell me how we all ended up here, really." said Basher. They spy replied "I-I don't know. I guess we all had the same idea when we were running for our lives."

"Lying." Titro called, not moving an inch from where he sat. Basher gave another punch and said "Strike two, don't get a third boy."

Boost stepped in and said "That's enough, now let's get real simple. Who are you?"

The spy froze, and kneeled with an awkward face, then he said in a hushed tone "I...I'm Unknown."

Boost stared at him, then asked "anything else?" Unknown just slumped, then Basher prepared another punch "Strike three..."

Out of nowhere Prazz spoke up saying "Don't, he's been cooperative enough. Just stop, please."

Basher let up, confused, then walked away, leaving Boost with Unknown.

'Wha-Thank you!" said Unknown as he attempted to look at Prazz through dim light, who sat back down silently. Boost thought for a minute, then said "Work with us, and there won't be any more rough talk, ok?"

Unknown looked at him and replied " Ok, thank you, thank-"

Boost then smacked him hard in the face. Metal clanked with metal, and Unknown fell unconsious.

"Had enough of that guy's talk." said Boost.

Chapter 8: Underground[]

Unknown wasn't the brightest person, and certainly not the strongest, but he did know how to handle a hostile situation. He awoke with a large headache, his helmet was dented from Boost's blow. Basher's punches also bruised his chest, but he knew all too well the heroes wouldn't have killed him. He shifted a little to examine his left arm, and watched as a little device on his wrist displayed a percentage. 95%...time to move, he was about to get up, but noticed Prazz standing a couple feet away from him, keeping watch as the other three planned. Maybe this one can be of use he thought. Then finally, Unknown made his move.

Prazz stood in the darkened corner of the room, silently keeping watch over the supposed unconcious Unknown. He listened as Boost, Basher, and Titro plotted an escape. From what he could hear, little progress was being made.

"We should just dig our way out, then use this guy to find wherever it is there's civilization. It's got to be somewhere near this mountain." said Basher. He stepped back after stating his claim. Titro responded by saying "We don't have the time. Plus, even if we do make it, who's to say this isn't all just a giant hoax?"

It was Boost's turn to talk "Your both right, Unknown can be an asset, but we have to make him worth our while. Get him to trust us, maybe even likewise."

There was a pause, then Boost said "Well, one way or another, we need to get out of here." Prazz was still listening in faintly, thinking to himself If we don't do something, we're all going down to end up scrapping each other down to metal plates. Just as he was contemplating the group's impending doom, Unknown leaped out from his place and caught Prazz around the neck. The other heroes took notice immediately, and raised their weapons all at once, but Unknown knew better, now with an unbreakable hold on the rookie hero, using him as a shield.

"Let him go," Boost said in an angered tone, "If not, Titro here can shoot around Prazz, just so you know."

Unknown glanced down as his wrist, 98%. Looking back up at the armed heroes, he made a threat of his own, "All your weapons down, and I get one, then you let me go free, or else I blow us all up with a bomb."

"What the? That's blasphemy. There's nowhere to go, and I'm positive you don't have any type of explosives on you. Just shut up and let go of Prazz." said Titro.

"Fine, then I rip this hero's head off," Now Unknown was becoming irritated. Everyone went quiet, still holding their positions. There was a small beep, Boost and Titro looked around, then shrugged in confusion. Basher noticed Unknown snicker "100%"

Panicking, Basher called out "He really has a bomb!" and lunged at Unknown, who was still holding Prazz, yelling "gaaah!"

Suddenly, the strange device on Unknown's wrist whirred and opened a portal. Before the heroes could figure out what was happening, Unknown and Prazz shimmered and disappeared into the portal, just as Basher flew through the spot where they previously stood. Basher never hit his target, but instead rammed into the back wall, hard. The impact was so large, the entire portion of the wall collapsed, revealing another cave leading further into the mountain. It also triggered another mini avalanche of snow, which began to falling on the three remaining heroes. Still in shock of what had just happened, they barely had time to react to the newly started cave-in.

"In that cave, let's go!" yelled Titro. Snow and decomposed spider remains fell all around, slowly filling up the cave. Boost led the way through the gap and into a narrow tunnel. It was of course pitch black, but luckily Titro had grabbed a few of the remaining supplies, including the mini-light.

"Darn it! He's gone, along with Prazz!" exclaimed Basher, who then punched the wall. The other two said nothing.

The outer cave finally collapsed, leaving the heroes trapped even deeper inside the mountain. The tunnel seemed to extend further, giving the three some relief. They exchanged looks, then began walking.

The tunnel seemed to go on forever, yet it was soon clear the path had been dug out on purpose. The heroes finally reached a clearing, a man-made cavern that Titro calculated to be at the very center of the mountain. Basher was the first to speak, "What in the name of Makuro is up with this planet?"

"This is a massive cave, who would require a location like this? Or better yet why?" asked Boost, "Hold on, there's a light in this cave, right over he-"

Boost slammed into the side of a giant machine. It was about the size of an average house, but it seemed more like half of the Assembly Tower up close.

"What is it?" asked Basher. Titro pipped up by saying "Looks like a generator of some sort."

The three scanned the entire cavern, but found nothing else apart from the generator. After a few minutes, each of them were starting to lose hope of any escape. Then at last, Titro exclaimed that he may have found their salvation.

"Guys, I think I found our way out of this death trap, hopefully..."

There was a panel directly behind the generator. A couple minutes passed, neither Boost or Basher could figure it out.

"This is a transport panel, capable of transporting things across entire galaxies." Titro seemed to stand taller with that sentence, "And, this one is operational."

Titro then touched the panel carefully in the center. It whirred to life, blinding the three heroes with light.

"Think it'll take us out of this 'mountain trap,'" asked Basher.

"Only one way to find out." answered Boost. He stepped up and tapped the screen. The panel buzzed, then Boost glowed like Unknown had earlier, and just as fast, he was gone. The other two gasped, and checked to make sure Boost hadn't spawned elsewhere in the room.

"Well, part of living is taking risks." then Basher stepped up and tapped the screen himself, and teleported. Then Titro followed soon after.

Chapter 9: Frozen Nowhere[]

Two figures stand alone inside a room.

"So, Unknown, fancy seeing you here on Nitronix."

"Those heroes, they were relentless, tortured me..."

Unknown stares off into the corner of the room.

"Oh get over it, they'll all be dead soon enough. Then our plan will proceed without fail."

"Sir, if I may interrupt, those so-called heroes may be smarter than we first thought."

"Grrr...You think I don't know that already?!"

Unknown cowers in fear.

"I-I'm sorry, but it might be in our best interest to send out X-Chill, or even Macronin."

"No, no, it's too late for that, we all need to be right here. Let them come, let them find their friends in our captivity, arrive to save the day, but only too late..."

The three heroes spawned in an unfamiliar environment, a metal container.

"Well, we're out," said Boost, "But there's no signs of life, and we are no more secure than we were before."

"And to think we started out on top of a mountain this morning," said Basher in disbelief, "Now we've lost half our numbers."

"Barely any supplies left too." sighed Titro, who stared at the remainders left in his backpack. Boost wasted no time and quickly scoured the room for any clues. "Well, nothing but a ladder up." he said.

"What do you think is up there?" asked Titro. Basher chuckled  "Only one way to find out, any one of you scared? Hahah."

Titro led the way up through the hatch, and climbed out into what seemed to be the inside of a battered vehicle. The place was filled with the scent of rust, and snow was flooding through the corroding walls. This battered vehicle had been here for some time.

"Looks like remnants of a crash-landing, but it appears to have the structure of a submarine." exclaimed Titro. The other two followed through the hatch, and looked for themselves.

"Hmm, think Nitronix was originally a water planet that froze over?" asked Basher.

Boost shook his head "I'd go with Titro, this seems too much like a crash-landed ship, even if it is a sub." "Well, whatever it was, it's deserted now..." said Boost, "What's with all of the crashes and disasters on this planet?"

Titro began scanning the ship, as did the others, and reported back "Nothing, cockpit, storage, empty."

"Wahoah! Something took a nice big chunk out of this thing!" exclaimed Basher. The others joined him in examining a spot where a large portion of the ship's side was ripped out. What was even more surprising was that it was outlined with teeth marks.

"Well this is boring." sighed Prazz. He sat alongside Dash and Dart chained inside a small enclosure, all of whom seemed to be thinking the same thing.

"Where do you suppose we are?" asked Dash.

"Could be anywhere, on Nitronix or somewhere far off." replied Dart. He shifted in his spot and examined their prison. "Doesn't seem like this is the place for holding prisoners."

As he said that, a door creaked opened and the sound of footsteps grew closer. Two figures approached the chained heroes.

"Who are you?" asked Prazz, the two figures stepped in close enough for the heroes to see them clearly. They turned out to be familiar faces.

"You-you're the one who knocked me out back at our ship! And you were the one on the mountain!" exclaimed Dash. It was true, Macronin and Unknown stood before the the three heroes.

"Yes, yes it is, we won't deny it, just keep your mouth shut, you'll live longer kid." said Macronin. Unknown moved closer and said to Prazz "Your friends are very, aggressive aren't they, hmm."

"What do you want from us?" asked Dart, he lunged forward but forgot he was still chained.

"Nothing, at least that was what before you all came here. Now we have to deal with you before you delay our plans any further." explained Macronin.

"Well, what are you going to do with us now?" asked Dash, it was clear that he was a bit worried. Macronin laughed, and Unknown scoffed. The two villains then reached for the chains holding each hero, and un-clipped them apart with ease. The heroes stood believing they were free, only to realize they weren't in any ordinary room, they were in a tank.

They took too long to realize, as Macronin fired his concealed weapon at each of them. The three were paralyzed where they stood. Macronin said "I think we may have made them too comfortable. Whatever, let's fill it up."

Unknown and Macronin exited the tank, and hit a button that triggered openings to begin filling it with a strange fluid.

"So what exactly does this stuff do again?" asked Unknown. Macronin replied with a smirk "Heh, it slowly drains all power from whatever enters it, and we just so happen to have the harness which delivers that power to our generators. Draining these hero cores will do us good, plus, it is slowly killing them all, as if they weren't already."

Unknown shifted uneasily, staring at the now nearly submerged heroes. He replied "Who wouldn't want that, heh..."

Chapter 10: The Beast[]

Titro examined the cockpit once again, checking the control panel more in depth."Check out this old thing!"

Meanwhile, Boost and Basher had found another hatch above leading back out onto the frozen surface of the planet Nitronix, meaning both good and bad for the heroes. They entered to see Titro tampering with the jumble of wires connecting the controls.

"Old, but not impossible, hold on." Titro exclaimed, the others stood and waited silently. A few minutes passed, but out of nowhere the entire cockpit whirred to life. The main screen lit up to reveal a map.

"Way to go! Now, what the heck does this map show us?" said Basher.

Boost was scanning the map left and right, and came to a conclusion "It's Nitronix."

"Interesting, care to explain how?" asked Titro. "Well, aside from the blip marked as 'current location' I think this mountain range is the one we just came from, and there are wide open plains on the other side." Boost motioned to each point on the map.

"Then that means," Basher exclaimed, "There's a base not three miles from here!"

The others looked across the map and saw the odd building sticking out of the planet surface.

"You're right Basher, and I bet you both there are actual living beings in there." said Titro. Boost responded "huh, wow. A bet even, alright then, we head due northeast and-"

Boost was interrupted by a metal-sounding roar, then the faint sound like a drill. The heroes turned away from the screen, looking to the back of the ship.

"Uh guys, you don't think that...whatever it was that took a bite out of this thing is still here, do you?" Titro asked.

The drilling grew louder, and louder.

"...Crap, go!" exclaimed Boost. The three made their way to the exit ladder. Titro climbed out to the snowy surface, followed close behind by Boost. Only Basher remained inside, and the sound drew closer.

"Basher, come on!" called Boost.

"Just go, I'm getting the map!" yelled Basher. He then dashed back to the cockpit and stored the map image in his memory bank. When he was done, the drilling was almost all around him, so intense it was pain-splitting. Still, Basher stood his ground and yelled "Well come on, you don't frighten me!"

Only seconds passed, yet they seemed to go by as minutes as the hero waited. Finally, the wall opposite him burst open. Snow flew everywhere, nearly blinding Basher, but he was un-phased. Out of the snow rushed a massive shark. It rammed into Basher and nearly knocked the wind out of him despite his preparation. Both beings slammed and flew through the wall of the ship, and out into the compiled snow and ice beneath the ground of Nitronix.

"Where is Basher?!" yelled Titro. He and Boost continued to run across the frozen outside.

Suddenly, the snow around them exploded like the world had blown up. Then the massive shark burst through to the surface and straight into the sky. Basher could be seen being forced through on the top of the shark's spikes.

"What in the world is that thing!" exclaimed Boost, he then called out to Titro "Keep running!"

The shark dove back into the ground, while Basher was left to hit the ground hard.

"Gah, my gosh that was not what I was expecting." Basher mumbled, and took a minute to get a grasp on what had just gone down. The shark resurfaced and continued in the direction of Boost and Titro. In swift motions the shark weaved in and out of the snow, coming closer and closer to the others. Basher broke into a sprint and caught the beast's tail as it went under the snow.

Meanwhile, Boost and Basher were running hard. The shark was flying within feet of the heroes, and to make things worse, they were slowing down.

"Is that?" panted Titro, "The base from the map!"

In the distance, a large metal structure could be seen sticking out from the ice. The shark burst out from the snow once again, nearly ramming into Boost, and coming ever so close to catching them both. Basher then launched himself off of the whip from it's tail, soared through the air for what seemed like an hour, then landed right on the shark's head. There wasn't much time left.

Basher took his chance and punched the shark as hard as he could. He successfully knocked out the beast and both it and the hero slammed into the icy surface, right at the others feet. Boost gave a sigh of relief and everyone dropped to the ground from exhaustion. Basher managed to say "Well that went well..."

"How much longer is this going to take sir?"

"Be patient you fool. By tomorrow we will be well underway."

"Where's X-Chill, and Macronin?"

"Must you ask so many questions Unknown? X-Chill is out guarding the front walls, don't want to take any risks. As for Macronin, I think he's admiring out prisoners."

"I'm...sorry sir. It's just I've been thinking this isn't worth it anymore. It's become too much of a hassle."

"Hah, you're having second thoughts, foolish. Right when we are ready to carry it all out perfectly. No."

Unknown was silent.

"Anyways, we've done well taking out those heroes. Speaking of which, I wonder where those last three perished..."

Chapter 11: Fortress of Ice[]

It was nighttime. The sun had set on the most hectic day for Boost Team, or what was left. Snow was falling once again, coating the base in the distance, and the small camp set up by the heroes. Less than a mile away, the snow-shark was still out cold on the ice. Of course the three heroes still had to be weary of the possibility it woke up. Boost, Basher, and Titro huddled around perhaps the last campfire they would experience, on Nitronix that is.

"So how do we do this?" Titro spoke up. The others sat deep in thought while staring into the fire. The patches of snow falling on and rolling off their armor.

"We stick together, go in there, and do what we need to do." replied Boost. Basher looked towards the base and said "Well yeah, but it may not be that easy..."

Boost spoke up again "We have friends in there, no doubt, and villains that have to be taken down whatever it takes. We go in there, and we must succeed in putting an end to these evil schemes, no matter what."

Titro and Basher nodded in agreement, and all three heroes bumped fists. They all watched the base which stood before them, and found hope in thinking about it. Suddenly, Basher stumbled for a second, and took another to regain his footing.

"Your core's low on energy, here, take this." explained Titro, he held in his hand one of the remaining mini-core rechargers. Boost noticed something, and said "That's the last one isn't it Titro." Basher swatted it away, saying " We all split it, no way I'm going to give myself a full recharge when we're all low."

"Well your core's near full depletion, and we'll need your full strength. Especially if we get into a mess like that." Boost pointed to the still motionless snow-shark. Basher looked at both of his comrades, then took the last recharger and used it. With a gasp Basher was back at full energy, and the other two accompanied him in staring at the base once again, not saying a word.

A large brute sat atop the metal roof of the base. He was a big, bulky figure with a bunch of tech equipment and heavy weapons. He held a giant baton/battering ram hybrid in one hand, and a heavy duty gun in the other. He stared out across the frozen plains with his one eye, his name: X-Chill. He had been sitting and pacing along the roof for hours, and yet nothing of importance had occurred at all, and to top it off, his fellow villains hadn't come up to offer to help, or even chat (not that he was one for talking). So to sum it up, X-Chill was bored, not just of waiting for a fight of some sort, but of his time being ignored.

He continued to wait as the sun slowly rose over the horizon, the light glistening off his shining chrome armor. Then he grunted in surprise, he spotted three objects rushing towards the base on which he sat.

The heroes were up and running, fast, charging the base with all their might. Basher was the first to notice the brute on top and called out to the others "Heads up, we got company!"

X-Chill got up and hit a switch, causing metal flaps on the face of the base to reveal a full arsenal of defense mechanisms. They began firing at the incoming heroes, as did X-Chill with his impressive span of weapons.

The heroes were ready, and swiftly dodged the oncoming missiles, laser-beams, bullets and other oncoming blasts. They were inching closer and closer to the doors of the base.

"Woohoo! Straight ahead!" called out Titro. They continued to advance, Boost and Titro pulling out their weapons, and aiming for the base. With a few fancy maneuvers, most of the defenses were out, and the door's locks were broken too. Up on the base, X-Chill took a minute to speak into his communication device, quickly saying "Heroes! Heroes are approaching!"

The villain growled with anger and leaped down from his perch to face the heroes head-on. He fired the missile launcher on his shoulder, but the heroes dodged easily and still ran. He then took off all his weapons, and ran for the heroes. He met them with a mighty punch, sending Basher and Boost back a few feet and onto the ground. Titro managed to dodge, and paused to look back at the others.

Basher was able to stand up as X-Chill approached him and Boost. He said "Go, I got this guy."

Boost understood, then got up and dashed to catch up with Titro as Basher stood to face the large villain. He and Titro reached the door soon after, and checked the area to make sure there weren't any traps. Meanwhile, Basher had begun a boxing match with X-Chill.

"What about Basher?" asked Titro. Boost turned and replied "I think we ought to go help him-"

Basher had kicked it into high gear, and was fluently flying circles around X-Chill, delivering numerous hits, and taking none himself whatsoever. Finally, he knocked out the big brute with a blow to the head. X-Chill then toppled over and the hero walked over carelessly to meet the others.

"What? Wasn't that big of a guy." said Basher.

Chapter 12: Storming the Base[]

They entered through the giant iron doors of the icy entrance as slowly as possible. Titro took the lead as the other two made sure the outside was secure. They all proceeded in a line into a seemingly empty room. The whistle of the wind was all that was heard throughout, and the chilly breeze was all that was felt.

"Nothing...well that's really anti-climactic..." said Titro. Basher looked over and cracked a smile. Boost nodded and scanned the room. There wasn't much to look at, only the metal structure and patches of snow scattered about.

"Well, it's a good plan, but too predictable." explained Titro, "A trick. An empty room, but that's not all."

They other two looked puzzled, Boost asked "How do you know that?"

Titro replied immediately, "because it was guarded, so we're obviously in the right place. There has to be some hidden passage around here."

He began scrolling along the walls, feeling the buildup of ice like an odd wall-whisperer. Skimming the wall still, Titro went on about the strategy behind the base's layout, which Boost and Basher weren't exactly listening to. Finally, after feeling almost every crack and crevice, Titro exclaimed "Haha! Found it!"

With that, he pulled out one of his guns and blasted the section of the wall with no hesitation. Suddenly the room shook. Chunks of ice fell from the ceiling, and soon the entire back wall had collapsed, revealing a more realistic wall, and two pathway openings.

Titro turned in triumph to see his comrade's still in awe of the newly revealed pathways. Basher was the first to speak "Well, you've done it again buddy, that was pretty darn clever."

"Nice work hero," said Boost, "now let's get a move on."

Titro tried to conceal his grin, but his accomplishment was short-lived, as the room began to tremble once more. The main doors slammed shut, not before the screeching of metal made the heroes flinch. Now they were trapped inside, then out of nowhere, masses of robot drones began flooding the place, equipped with light armor and heavy lasers. They sprouted from all over the room, some even popping up from the ground and toppling over the heroes. To make things worse, the room was completely dark, aside from the heroes, and the quickly multiplying adversaries. There was nothing the three could do but bring out their weapons and hope for the best.

Finding no break in the flow, the heroes were swarmed just like the avalanche up on the mountain. Boost and Basher were being separated from Titro, and they were all forced towards the back wall. They fought, and fought, and continued to fight until it was impossible to tell the location of one another.

Titro was able to spare a moment by spinning and firing without caution, taking out a small group of the drones. He unfortunately lost his balance as a drone landed a hit on his back, and he nearly fell directly into the swarm.

Across the room, Boost and Basher were pressed flat up against the back wall, a few feet from one of the openings. As if by fate, the drones pushed the two closer and closer to the opening. At last, when Boost was in reach of the entrance, he gripped the corner and hauled both him and Basher into the hole. The cluster of drones was beginning to flood what seemed to be a hallway which the two fell into. They had a small window of opportunity to talk.

"We've got to go back for Titro!" said Basher, he sounded both anxious and exhausted to his limits. Just as he said so, the opening to the hall was now flooding with the drones just as fast as the room before. The two were forced to turn and run the hall in the opposite direction, hoping that their teammate would make it on his own.

Near the second opening back in the room, Titro faced nearly the same problem. He was tiring out, and had made numerous tactical mistakes. He soon found his way into the second hallway, and ran in the same fashion the others had, only to find a dead-end closet waiting for him.

Taking his only choice, Titro threw himself into the closet, then turned just in time to see the drones approaching  only inches away. He propped himself up just in time and shut the door before they could invade.

Chapter 13: Regrouping[]

Part 1[]

Macronin rushes into the dark room, out of breath.

"They're in sir! They're in!"

"Indeed they are."

"What are we going to do? They are much more capable of surviving than we thought."

"With any luck, they are being engulfed by our 'defenses' right at this moment."

"So we can add them to our collection...hahahaha! I like it!"

"Quit being so multi-personalitied let's go and meet our 'heroes'..."

The two figures exited the room slowely, both snickering.

Titro had just realized he was trapped. His only thoughts were 'This is it. What now?'

He could hear the drones piling up outside the closet door, and could tell they were progressing in breaking it. In all of the chaos, Titro stumbled forward from a jolt. Of all times, his core was running out now. With no chargers, or even electrical chords in the room that might help, all he felt was panic. He sat in the farthest corner as the door was nearly broken through, wondering what would kill him first.

There was a thud heard close to the hero. At first he thought the end had come, and the drones had succeeded in breaking in, but also considered the fact that his mind was racing and drifting. A figure dropped from the ceiling, landing in the corner opposite Titro. It slowly approached the fallen hero, and stopped close enough for Titro to make out who it was.

"What the? What are you doing here?" Titro was in shock, because in front of him stood the spy, Unknown. Although he didn't quite look like he had last time Titro saw him, he was still easily recognizable. He carried a metal bar in one hand, a small pocket-knife in the other.

"Oh great, come to finish me even faster..." Titro added. Unknown spoke in a much more calmly manner than earlier "I'm here to help you. Whether you like it or not, I'm on your side."

Titro couldn't believe what he'd just heard, he stared at the spy for some time, thinking back on all that had happened before.

"Who are you?" he asked. Suddenly, he felt another jolt from his core. This one felt much more powerful, and made it clear the hero was close to death. Unknown watched Titro struggle where he sat, then took a vial of odd-looking fluid from his pocket, dipped his knife into it, then stabbed Titro in the chest, right next to his core.

Titro twitched and gasped in surprise, still trying to make sense of what was going on. Unknown explained to him "It's an energizing serum. Quite rare, but works like adrenaline, or nitrous-oxide even, that is if you use it right," he stood and held out his hand to Titro, "It will keep you going until the day is out, hopefully enough time for you to complete your mission. Now are you with me?"

Titro was regaining conciousness, and took in the fact that he had been given life for another day. He than took Unknown's hand, and the two trudged over to the bulging closet door. Unknown opened it, and both of them charged out attacking every drone they saw.

Basher and Boost hadn't been running that long before they realized the pathway they were on led into a maze. Each move was crucial, because there was barely any space for movement with the drones on their tail. Still unaware of Titro's status, all they could do was hope this wasn't the end for all of them.

Luck was on their side, because Boost nearly fell from being startled upon entering a large hall, much bigger than the entrance room. In one section sat another odd generator, just like the one inside the mountain. The heroes almost didn't notice as the drones flooded in faster than expected.

"There's too many! We'll kill ourselves before we make a dent in this mob, even in a room like this!" exclaimed Basher. Boost was thinking the exact same, blasting a drone as it pounced at him. "If this really is it, then we go down fighting. I'm not giving up!"

The two continued to hold their ground as the sea of drones surrounded them. They were no match, as the numbers doubled by the minute.

Then, as if by fate, Titro blasted his way through the entrance like a real hero yelling "Not just yet! We have a mission to complete!"

The orange hero was followed in by Unknown, who was also bashing robot drones with his bat. The both of them were on fire, taking out drones left and right. Their arrival had Boost and Basher stunned, but immediately snapped themselves back into action. The re-formed group of four seemed almost unstoppable. They were demolishing the hordes with newfound confidence, when a booming voice called out.

"Stop!" The drones stopped, the heroes and Unknown turned, silent but panting heavily. Three people stood on the opposite side of the room: Macronin, The escapee from so long ago; X-Chill, who appeared to have recovered from the last encounter; and the last one nobody knew except Unknown.

"Kryone..."

Part 2[]

"This guy's the leader?" asked Boost, he examined the enemies.

"Yes, he's the mastermind at least" answered Unknown. Basher turned to look at the spy, still suspicious of him. Kryone finally spoke in a calm but scheming tone.

"Oh Unknown, do you have to spoil the moment?" he chuckled, "Yes, yes I am the leader I guess. It's quite something that we are all here now."

Nobody moved, but the tension between everyone was wild. Titro was staring down Macronin, and likewise. Boost was as well, but shifted his attention to Kryone after hearing the villain, trying to figure him out. He was about to say something, but held back as Kryone spoke again.

"X-Chill, pick whichever one you want."

The brute smiled, looking straight at Basher. The hero stood his ground as X-Chill charged, but the villain had learned from last time, and rammed into him, hard. Basher was sent flying back, expecting more time to make his attack, and landed next to a few drones. Angered severely, Boost finally said "What do you want from us?"

The villain leader responded "I want you dead of course, all of you."

Silence.

"So, you can surrender now, and live to watch our brilliant plan blossom like a wild flower, because I'm sure you're not going to suicide here on the spot. Or maybe your hero code forces you to make your last stand. Well, if that's so, have fun with our quick-spawning drones, and of course X-Chill."

All three villains smiled, but Boost spoke with no hesitation "We will fight you all, and bring you down. We'll put a stop to your master plan, find our friends, and we won't give up until we do so!"

"And we'll stick you in prison for eternity." added Basher.

The heroes cheered in agreement, Unknown too. The villains only smiled more Kryone spoke to Unknown "Hm, it is weird how you side with them. After this you truly will be unknown, whether you die, or go to jail just the same if you live!"

The heroes exchanged faces, the spy was enraged. Unknown spoke for everyone to hear "You don't know who I am. You may or may not know what I've done. You villains can't understand the heroes of Hero Factory, but I do. I may be arrested, just like you, but I will gladly turn myself in for committing the crimes Kryone commanded. Why should anyone else care but me?"

There was a long silence after Unknown's mini speech. Then Kryone said "Very well, it will be a much less-crowded audience."

With that, he and Macronin retreated into the doors from which they entered. X-Chill stood between them and the heroes, laughing silently. When the two were gone, the drones reactivated, and began swarming the group again. The brute also attacked, now ramming through all four rebels.

The group was loosing, and was just about finished when the ground began to shake. X-Chill receded from pounding the heroes and exclaimed "What the?"

The sharp pain-splitting sound of drilling grew closer, the heroes exchanged worried looks.

"What is it?!" said Unknown. Basher answered "You probably don't want to know, but it's really big."

Right as he finished, the floor burst open, producing an ear-deafening sound. The giant snow-shark landed with a thud, crushing a pile of drones flat. X-Chill was taken by surprise, and stumbled backwards, tripping and falling on a drone himself.

The shark rampaged the hall, coming very close to ramming the generator. It noticed X-Chill as he got up, and of course dove for him. The heroes took the opportunity to run for the door Kryone had gone through.

"Hey! You stupid, stupid heroes!" yelled X-Chill. He could barely be heard over the screeching drills. The shark had hurt the brute bad, and was continuously attacking still. Basher looked back at him and held up a peace sign with his hand as he continued for the door. The brute yelled in both frustration and pain. Unfortunately, the shark noticed Basher too, and shifted to go for his next target.

A hint of fear struck Basher, and he ran even harder. The other three noticed too, and trampled numerous drones dashing into the doorway. Basher almost dove in as Boost and Titro slammed the door shut just in time. The shark face planted in the metal door, sending a shock-wave along the wall. The heroes were safely on the other side, panting in disbelief, wondering how in the world they were still alive.

Chapter 14: A New Plan[]

Part 1[]

Panting but feeling good, the heroes (along with Unknown) stood in the next hallway after the giant room. Somehow, most of them were smiling triumphantly. Nobody said anything, until Boost quickly slammed Unknown against the wall. "First thing's first. What's this all about 'Unknown'?" Boost said. The spy shifted uneasily, trying to gather his words. Basher spoke soon after "Your little speech back there isn't a good enough explanation." "Calm down guys, he's here to help. He brought me back to life, literally!" exclaimed Titro. Boost responded "Then at least give us a good reason why we should trust you."

Unknown calmed down, then spoke easily "I can help you stop Kryone, and get your friends back."

"Well you did kidnap one of them, that's working against you boy." said Basher. By this time Boost had loosened his hold and let the spy stand on his own. Boost then said "Well look, we don't have much time, I know it. So if you can help us, you better make yourself useful, and no funny business. This is the only thing keeping us from ripping your gears apart."

Unknown nodded, and the whole group felt at ease. The hallway before them seemed straightforward. Basher motioned to head further down, and the others followed for a minute, until Unknown said "Wait."

The three heroes turned slowly, and Boost said "I'm guessing now's the time to make yourself useful?"

"Yes, yes indeed, but ther's something you must kn ow now." Unknown responded. Basher rolled his eyes "We don't have time for stories."

"It's crucial, you must know." Unknown said, he had stopped, as did the others.

"Fine, what do you have for us, Unknown?" asked Boost.

"Kryone's plan. If we don't regroup again later, you'll want to know." Unknown responded, he then reached down and retrieved a pod. Activating it, he displayed a layout of Nitronix, much like the one from the shipwreck. This one had multiple blips positioned around the globe.

The heroes stood in awe as the diagram showed a full and complete representation of the ice planet. Unknown took the diagram and pointed out some of the blips.

"These are giant generators housing energy. Kryone hopes to use them to turn the planet into a mega-weapon able to strike at his will." Unknown explained. He watched the heroes stare at each 'generator point' on the grid, not saying a word.

Unknown continued, "He's been formulating this for a while, longer than even I or any of the other henchmen have known."

"And he's finally aquired what he needs to put his plan into gear..." Titro said. The orange hero stared off into the distance deep in thought as the others still examined the planet. He looked at Unknown and said "He needed supplies from Hero Factory. So he sent Macronin out, who hitched a ride with us."

Unknown just nodded, and pointed out one blip saying "This is the one in the other room you just saw. It may not look like much, but it has the potential stored energy to level this base, thanks to your comrade's core energies."

That was when Boost and Basher turned in content. Boost sighed (more like grunted) and gestured for the spy to go on. Basher made a realization of his own and said "There's a generator in the heart of the mountain right?"

Unknown was surprised the hero's description was so exact. He confirmed and pointed to another generator not far from the last one.

"The powers combined can take on, say, all of Hero Factory," When saying so, he looked at the heroes side to side, making sure they understood.

"We have to stop Kryone right here and now, or else he will have pulled off an incredible feat with nearly a one-man army." Unknown finally shut off the pod and put it away, leaving the heroes to look at empty space.

Part 2[]

The three heroes and Unknown had their weapons drawn, even Basher had his trusty blade ready. As soon as they were set, they set off down the hallway once again. At the end the group encountered a four-way split, each clearly heading in opposite directions.

"Don't suppose you know which goes where, Unknown?" asked Basher. He tossed his blade back and forth waiting for an answer. Unknown took his time trying to visually map out each path, and eventually gave his best assumption.

"Kryone's control chamber is on the far right, but your friends, they're locked up here too. On the near left, it's pretty straight-forward. I'll map out the traps and tricks along the way, then it should be a piece of cake."

Gesturing to the corresponding hallways, Boost suggested the groups split up. Him and Basher going directly for Kryone, while Unknown and Titro would head to gain reinforcements. After Unknown gave instructions on how to reach Kryone the fastest, the teams were ready to head out. Unknown gave a final piece of information, "Kryone's probably already activated the generators, I'm sure it'll be fully functional anyti-"

Suddenly a massive tremor shook the heroes to their cores (literally!), nearly toppling them over. It was clearly not that of the mega shark, but coincidentally what Unknown had just described, the generators around the planet. Boost was quick to say "Alright, not much time. Got to go and stop Kryone, let's go! You two hurry back with the others as fast as you can!"

Waving his weapons in the air, Titro said, "Got it," and sped off down the hallway. Basher did the same, not waiting for Boost, who he knew would catch up. Unknown approached Boost one more time to say "There's one more thing, Kryone's got backup, both for him and his plan. Watch out for the traps, as well as the challenge Kryone himself will pose. So be careful...and if this doesn't work out...just, good luck."

Boost nodded and turned to follow Basher without a word. Unknown quickly caught up with Titro, and they both raced down the path to the imprisoned heroes.

The heroes were lucky to have heard out Unknown's advice. the hallways they rushed down were filled with traps. Every twist and turn revealed, or better yet didn't reveal, another tripwire or hidden weapon. Boost and Basher were swift in their steps, avoiding a majority of the traps, while also keeping a good pace.

A pit of lava opened up in front, nearly catching Basher, but Boost noticed faster and caught his teammate in time. Multiple dart shooters popped out of the wall minutes later. Both ducked not a second too soon, and were up and running again in a pinch.

They encountered a three way split in their path, and dashed to the left as spikes blasted through the ground in front of them. Without hesitation, they leaped over the spikes, Basher doing a barrel roll and landing in style. Up ahead they saw the doors that led to Kyrone's lair, and they approached knowing the impending fight had to end in their victory.

Chapter 15: Twin Dilemma[]

While Boost and Basher were running their obstacle course, Titro and Unknown were doing just about the same. Almost at the door to the prison cells off to the side, Unknown deactivated what traps he could. They had to stop at the door for Unknown to take care of the entrance, disabling the locks and defenses. Titro thought to himself in the meantime, still a bit surprised he was working alongside the spy.

"You know, You never told us who you were for real." Titro said. Unknown looked up at him for a second before going back to work. He talked as he continued to disable wires, "Well, to be honest, the truth is a bit fuzzy for me. You see...I was working for an associate of Hero Factory."

Titro stared, trying to make sense of what Unknown was saying as he went on. Still working on the board, Unknown took a knee to carry on the story, "It was a long time ago, but there was something about Kryone and the others, and I was helping them or something. They turned me somehow, and only recently I remembered all this. Maybe because of you heroes, but I now know that what I've done in these past few days isn't me."

A spark of energy popped from the wires Unknown had connected, then the double doors opened with a ker-chunk. Unknown stood up in triumph, Titro too, and walked to the ajar doors. They cracked one door open just a little to peer in.

On one side of the room was the tank that held Prazz, Dart and Dash suspended in the core-draining fluid. On the other side was a giant guard dog, assumed to be another odd inhabitant of Nitronix. Titro and Unknown readied their weapons after scoping out the room once more.

"So, do you think I'm worthy of fighting next to heroes?" asked Unknown. Titro was making sure his dart shooters were fully functional, and said "Well, I guess we'll find out. Let's do it."

The doors to the main control room burst open as Boost and Basher charged in. Kryone was, as expected, at the control panel and calmly working his great plan. The villain turned as the heroes approached, but didn't show any signs of hesitation or haste whatsoever.

Slightly curious as to what Kryone was thinking at the time, Boost and Basher slowed to a walk upon reaching him. The unusual silence surrounded the three, making the scene even more awkward and uneasy.

"Give it up Kryone, you're outnumbered and we already have backup on the way." announced Boost. Kryone continued his long pause before responding, and eventually said "You just don't get it do you?"

The heroes watched intently as Kryone folded his arms and held a cold stare. He went on, "I've been formulating this plan for months now, maybe a year even. I know this planet better than you know your city. My 'henchmen' that you have defeated most likely are merely pawns in this game. I am the mastermind, yet I could've done this whole job on my own."

After a few seconds of monologue, Kryone shifted from careless to serious, striking a battle stance that took the heroes by surprise. Boost quickly drew his guns, aiming straight for Kryone's head. Kryone didn't say another word, until the heroes spoke their minds.

"You're still down two-to-one, go ahead and try taking us both on." Boost said in an almost grim voice.

"Now, now, you can't figure it out I guess. Oh well," Kryone then gave a cross between a maniacal laugh and a chuckle, "I'm not like other villains, I am, much more..."

As the machines behind him whirred and beeped, continuing the process of powering up the mega-weapon, Kryone spread his hands and focused his energy. His image became a blur to the heroes, and soon he was pulsing with an invisible wave. Before Basher or Boost could react, Kryone gave off a blast, knocking them back a few steps, then appeared to be in five places at the same time. At last, the energy faded, and now five identical clones of Kryone were lined up where the original once stood.

"I told you I could have done it all on my own." said a broken up voice of Kryone. Then, the heroes watched in horror as all five clones charged at them.

Only a few minutes had passed since Titro and Unknown had reached the holding cells. They had slowly made their way around the sleeping guard dog/beast and up to the glass tank holding the other heroes. A few quick adjustments to the tank's controls and the mysterious fluids began to drain, although at a very slow pace.

"What do we do?" asked Ttiro, "We don't have the time for this."

Unknown gave a shush, and looked the tank top to bottom, then replied in a whisper "Well, since we can't get in until the level of fluids is drained out. The only other option is to bust in there. Of course we're risking the guard waking."

Titro sighed while pondering the thought. He heard something like a knock on metal near him, and noticed Macronin falling from the ceiling, aiming to pounce on Unknown who was already loosening the tank bolts. Before he could react, Titro jumped to push him out of Macronin's way. All three landed flat on the floor with an unsettling thud (since they are all robots).

Whispering, yet clearly a bit startled, Unknown managed a "I got him!"

With than Unknown tackled Macronin before he could get up and both hit the ground again. Meanwhile Titro rushed to loosen the bolts just enough, but the fluids still had not drained enough.

Unknown and Macronin struggled on the floor, still trying to remain silent. Unknown was able to deliver a few punches before his opponent kicked him off and turned the tide on him, nearly throwing him into Titro.

Macronin somehow got ahold of Unknown's bat, and hit Unknown point blank in the chest, sending him flying right into the glass pane of the tank. The core-draining fluids burst out, sending the all of the heroes and villains to the floor. Liquid and glass was blasted everywhere, giving off both an irritating smell and sound.

To everyone's dismay, the beast awakened at the sound of breaking glass, and immediately noticed the multiple figures, some it recognized and others not. Despite this fact, it didn't care as it was so rudely woken up, and quickly rose up to reveal it's massive body. The guard dog snarled, thrashed in place, and then darted for it's targets.

Chapter 16: The Will to Fight[]

"Forget being cautious now! Just get you friends out of that stasis tank!" yelled Unknown as he dodged an attack from both the guuard dog and Macronin (who in fact was not saying a thing the whole duration of events).

Titro hopped into the soaked glass tank, realizing three things. One, it smelled very dank and foul, yet oddly organic. Two, all the other heroes were still unconcious. And three, there were a large number of puddles and dripping liquid that seemed to be sparking with electricity. Titro shook his head as he was becoming invested in the moment, then proceeded to his three comrades and helped them up.

Meanwhile, back outside Unknown was having his meals handed to him over and over again, taking hits from Macronin, then the monster, then each again respectively. At some point it looked as if the guard dog was in full sync with the snickering villain. The liquids that had gushed out onto the 'battlefield' were no help, as it to posed an obstacle to avoid.

Prazz was the first to awaken, as Titro was dragging the others to the cracked window of the tank. He stood up with no effort and exclaimed "What was that?!?"

Titro almost lost his grip on the other two as he jolted from hearing Prazz's voice.

"Yeesh kid, good to see you up and running, but really?"

Prazz shrugged, but quickly noticed the battle raging outside the tank.

Ttiro was now taking the sleeping Dash towards the door, while the monster and Macronin were still occupied with Unknown. Prazz understood, and took Dart then followed the orange hero out to safety. With both sleeping heroes out of harms way (and a quick debriefing), Titro and Prazz ran back in to deal with the struggle not going so well for their side. As they dashed in they immediately noticed Unknown nearly toppled over from Macronin's tackle. The spy went into a barrel roll, and ended up right under the guard dog.

Ttitro called out to him as he and Prazz approached the group, "How do we stop this thing?" refering to the dog (although Macronin was just as lethal).

Macronin managed to speak even with Macronin pinning him on the floor. "Keep them occupied. And if you can, hit him on his-"

The dog didn't like having people under him, so he took care of them. With a swif t flick of the massive arm,  he sent the two flying out from under.

In the meantime, Titro took what he could manage to hear and told Prazz "Alright rookie, let's go!"

With that the heroes leaped in a battle-phase-ish motion and made an effort to distract the beast. Prazz landed on the creature's back, and began riding it like a mechanical bull, kicks, jolts and all. Titro landed on the beast's head, and gave it a great shake.

Now with a little more room to focus, Unknown tossed Macronin away, giving him a few seconds to recover, and noticed he heroes at work. He then leaped off the ground himself, and landed behind the beast.

"Hit the spikes on his upper back! That's it's weak point!" Unknown called. The beast turned right on queue, Titro still being tossed around by its head, and Prazz trying to make his way to said spikes.

Suddenly, Macronin latched himself onto the beast, setting everyone off balance and tumbling off. Unknown barrel-rolled to the side to avoid being crushed, and Macronin himself took a hard fall with the beast.

Boost and Basher were back to back as they faced off against the multiple Kryones. The control room they were in was surprisingly large, just like every other room in the base. The clones circled around, jumping in to attack faster and more brutal than the heroes could react.

"On your left!" said Basher, Boost's quick reflexes aided him as he was able to catch a clone's kick. He tossed him away without hesitation. Much to the duo's dismay, that one slip up of the enemies was short lived, and they all regrouped soon enough.

"Let's make this a good show, then." exclaimed Boost. He pulled out his rifles, fired and threw them into the air, dodged a clone's attack and rolled, tripping another, and caught his guns in time to blast yet another one.

Basher didn't have the same luck, but managed to knock one clone pretty hard on the head, enough to send him straight to the ground. Nearly trampled by the real Kryone (although it wasn't clear to them at the time), Basher did almost a double jump, landing back next to Boost.

"Going up are we?" He said as two Kryones leaped to attack from above. Boost nodded and gave Basher a big lift, and he too went up into the air, punching both enemies.

Now they were back to where they were before, the Kryone clones surrounding the heroes once again. Boost grumbled "Well this isn't getting any easier."

With that, the fight continued.

Both battles were getting old, fast. Titro held up the giant guard dog with all his might as Unknown raced by with Macronin behind him, Prazz behind both.

"Hey, over here!" Titro yelled, straining to keep up his strength. Unknown was quick, and kited the group towards TItro.

At the precise moment, Titro jumped out from underneath, right as the three others passed. As intended, the beast fell with a loud thud, of course right on top of the villain. Prazz stopped just in time so he wasn't squashed himself. Now they had only the beast to deal with.

Jumping to the side, each person in a different direction, Titro was the one to leap high up and over, finally landing a hit on the described spikes. Thankfully, the beast went down as said, put to rest but not death.

"Great work, but we've got other business to attend to." explained Unknown. With no time to loose the three rushed out the door to find the others awakening slowly. Still unaware of the situation, they grumbled in confusion.

"No time to explain, Boost and Basher need our help. Let's go!" said Titro, he was obviously out of breath at the time, but kept good composure.

Then all of them ran down the hallway, the destination, the site of the other battle. Back inside the trashed containment room, the beast was asleep just as it was before.

Chapter 17: Eye of the Storm[]

Boost and Basher were pinned to the wall. The Kryone clones held them down, while the real villain went back to pacing and talking in his menacing voice.

"Now don't you see? You heroes are nothing, even against multiples of me, the one person that can only make clones of himself." Kryone motioned with his hand as he spoke, almost babbling on like a lunatic. He could be heard mumbling time to time. The two trapped heroes took note and wondered who they were really dealing with: genius, maniac, mastermind, Kryone fit the description for all of them in the hero's book.

Basher had responded in the meantime "No, I don't see, really."

Kryone grumbled, then jumped, and his clones disappeared all at once. He landed then jabbed both Boost and Basher right in the cores. Both were shocked, and were easily swept aside by Kryone with barely any effort. Now near-crippled on the floor, the heroes couldn't move. Their cores were spurting out sparks of energy. "I don't have a need for this..." Kryone stated.

As if it was out of a movie, the main doors burst off of the hinges. In walked Titro, Unknown, Prazz, Dash and Dart, all readied for battle.

"End this now Kryone, or we will!" said a triumphant Titro. The others had their weapons drawn, and quickly went to help the two fallen heroes. Kryone said nothing as they moved in. It was clear he was in deep thought to himself once again. A beeping sound in the back of the room behind Kryone turned everyone's heads.

"Well this seems familiar." said Basher. Unknown then exclaimed "It's the main control panel! He's activated the launch sequence!" The heroes made a move for the controls, but just like that Kryone had sent out a dozen more clones to form a wall.

"Just shut it down Kryone, this doesn't have to play out with the death of hundreds." said Unknown. Kryone didn't budge, and neither did the clones.

"You're...right..." Kryone said softly, "It also requires you're deaths!"

Boost replied "Fine then, you're going down regardless! Go!"

All six members of Boost team charged together, catching the clones offguard and breaking through the defensive wall. Now with the upper hand, the heroes slowely pushed Kryone's forces back.

The real Kryone snarled with disgust, and rushed to defend the control panel. Prazz and Dash were the first to reach him, but as ambitious as they were, Kryone was able to shove the both of them down with ease. Unknown came out of nowhere and tackled Kryone head-on. Both rolled into the far corner of the room. Now there was nobody at the controls.

With the clones finally put down, the others rushed to the controls. Titro took a good look at the panel, then slammed the button deactivating the launch. Kryone was now surrounded on his own, with the heroes standing triumphant.

"Still feeling confident?" giggled Prazz.

For once Kryone spoke loud and clear "I've learned that those who give up lose even more. Do what you want, but I haven't and won't give up."

"Well chosen. In the name of Hero Factory, you are officially under arrest ." said Boost. Kryone twitched, then laughed, and said " And I haven't lost either! You will all fall, even your precious factory!"

Kryone then jumped up, faster than anyone could react, going straight into a roundhouse kick offsetting the circled heroes. He then activated a device on his shoulder. In another part of the fortress, a rocket filled with explosives launched at the signal. Kryone also practically sprouts an armored jetpack. Unknown recovered just in time to realize what was going on, and leaped forward to tackle Kryone once again. Both lift off through the roof, leaving Boost Team trying to grasp what had just happened in the control room.

Chapter 18: The End Times[]

Things were back to their natural state of chaos, as Boost Team was faces with a missile supposedly headed for Hero Factory. Titro and Dart worked at the controls frantically. The others noticed the planet itself seemed to tremble.

“It’s no use, Kryone had that missile programmed to his activation alone. These controls will do nothing. What a plan, that guy…” said Titro.

“I’m guessing self-detonation of these generators was part of the plan too.” Said Basher. The source of the trembling turned out to indeed be the generators themselves.

“How much time do we have on both threats?” asked Boost, he turned to the others quickly. Dart replied with haste, “Well, we can override the generators, and save us a planet-wide explosion for a quick minute. That missile on the other hand, well, someone has to disable it manually.”

The heroes exchanged looks. It was obvious that this was nothing short of an impossible challenge.

“How are we going to do that?” asked Prazz.

“With these,” replied Basher. He held out three functional jetpacks.

Kryone and Unknown soared through the sky, being constantly slammed and tossec by the cold sinds of Nitronix. Unknown held a firm grip on Kryone’s arms, but the opposing villain still maintained control of the jetpack that carried them both. Kryone shouted out

“I should have known you were a traitor!”

They take a dive, but pull up before impacting in a snow hill.

“You aided me in my plans, just to taunt me, to undermine me! And for what? To fuel my dreams then make a joke of me?”

Kryone attempted to throw Unknown off while they take a hard turn. Unknown holds on still, even managing to refute with some words of his own.

“I believed in you at one time, Kryone, but no more. Your dream was never meant to be!”

Kryone yelled in anger, and swatted Unknown square in the face. They take another dive, now heading for the icy plains.

“Your plan was good in the beginning, I’ll give you that. But after a while I realized it was just as insane as you.” Unknown manages to say, formerly grasping Kryone’s arm. Kryone had now taken them back above the base, hundreds of feet higher.

“Enough!” Kryone shouted. He lifted one arm free at last, and jabbed Unknown right in the chest, nearly piercing his entire body frame. Unknown lets go instantaneously, and gasps. Kryone then retracts his fist, letting Unknown’s limp body fall to the ice base far below.

Kryone then noticed four of the heroes lifting off with their own jetpacks. He smirks as he watches them approach the soaring missile. After a few seconds of muttering curses, Kryone blasted his thrusters and flew off, never to be seen again, at least for this day.

Titro, Basher, and Dart had geared up with the newly acquired jetpacks. They figured their best shot at disabling the missile would be to send up the smartest. Basher went along in case things went really bad. Boost was also on his way up, using his own custom jetpack.

With a “good luck” from Prazz ad Dash, the four heroes lifted off towards the quickly ascending missile. There was major turbulence as the group flew higher into Nitronix’s atmosphere. Soon enough, they were on board the rocket.

Boost was able to locate the internal control hatch. He and Basher busted their way inside. Then, Dart and Titro wasted no time in hacking the system they found within. As time passed, everyone was on edge pondering how this would end. Within moments, the missile was just about in space.

Titro turned and shook his head. Dart turned as well, and explained in dismay “This thing’s rigged to self destruct no matter what.”

Boost and Basher reacted to this in the same way, shocked, but not showing it much.

“…and you’re sure there’s nothing we can do to divert its course?” asked Boost.

“Well, we can. The possible outcomes are unknowable at this point,” replied Titro, “It’ll be risky, and probably costly.”

“What is it?” said Basher.

“We can manually turn the missile back down towards Nitronix…and crash it, theoretically destroying it before the explosives can activate. The problem is: the crash itself may set off the explosives.”

Dart continued “On top of that, there’s no place close enough to crash in time without having to turn us into a nosedive.”

Time was running out, yet the four heroes felt slower than ever.

“If we don’t do this, Hero Factory and more are doomed,” said Boost, “You all get down to the surface, and I’ll drive this thing down.”

TItro and Dart were in denial, opposing Boost’s intent for a one-man suicide mission, but then Basher spoke up, “No, I’ll be the one to crash this party.”

Now it was Boost’s turn to defy, but to no avail. Basher goes on, “My core’s nearly dead anyway. If this sacrifice means saving thousands, this is the best way to go out in my opinion.”

Boost eventually nodded, and the other two stared with wide eyes. With that, all three made their way to the opening from which they came, and exited with their jetpacks, leaving Basher alone on the speeding rocket.

Chapter 19: One Last Ride[]

Basher stood in one spot so he was able to access each panel of the controls. He managed to punch out some windows for a view out of the missile. He made sure everything was set, then configured the ship to turn into what was essentially a vertical nosedive.

Back in the main control room, Boost, Titro and Dart met back up with the others after a safe trip back down. They all watched as the missile began its descent back down towards the ice planet.

Basher saw the mountains up ahead, and at his angle, the missile had about a 50/50 chance of crashing into or missing the peaks. He knew this was probably the last thing he would see, so he closed his eyes and waited. His core glowing stronger than ever, even as his energy dwindled from days of exhaustion.

Suddenly, Basher opened his eyes as the ship was nearly upon the mountain tops. He gasped at an abrupt realization, and began to scramble for his gear as the missile fell with gaining speed.

The other heroes could see the missile falling across the mountains now. They saw the shell begin to flare up with sparks. Slowly but surely, the missile collapsed completely into the drifts, and thankfully did not set off a world-ending explosion. However, it was a half-hearted victory, as the group slowly realized what else just happened.

For what seemed like an eternity, everyone stood in silence, staring out at the landscape of Nitronix.

Then suddenly, the heroes gasped as they saw a figure flying down on the highest mountain.

Prazz was the first to say “Is that?”

Basher soared through the air, behind him, the missile becoming nothing more than a wreck or metal. The explosives would remain inactive once and for all. He pulled out a metallic bar, and cracked it open, holding it with both hands. The bar sprang to life, and folded out, forming a hero-cycle. Basher landed on the slopes in perhaps one of the most extreme bike tricks ever, bracing for the impact as he went. The landing went about as well as it could have. Basher then sailed down the mountain almost right to the base with ease.

“My gosh,” chuckled Boost.

“He made it!” laughed Titro. Dart and Prazz jumped for joy. Another violent tremble shook the base. The cheering was halted. Titro was quick to say “Kryone must have rigged this place to go down as well. Let’s get out of here, looks like we don’t have much time, or choice.”

“Wait, Prazz, Titro, come with me,” said Boost, “Dash and Dart, get out through the main doors and meet up with Basher. We have unfinished business.”

Everyone nodded in understanding, and Boost team made their way out of the crumbling fortress. Boost, Prazz, and Titro arrived at the now destroyed main room in which they first met Kryone. Now only snow and busted supplies remained, as well as dismantled drone remains. The heroes made their way to their targets.

The heroes emerged with prisoners in tow: Marcronin and X-Chill, in cuffs. The snow shark had left its rampage some time ago, and the guard dog was set free. All that remained was finally getting off the planet. The heroes made their way to the entrance hall and noticed a new hole in the ceiling. Lying on the floor beneath was the body of Unknown, the aftermath of him and Kryone’s struggle evident. Upon further inspection, Titro confirmed they had passed.

Disheartened, the group continued out just as the walls began to collapse. Outside, they met up with the others, and they all walked off (with the exception of Basher on his bike) as the sun began to set on this very long day.

“So, what now?” asked Prazz.

“Well, we have no more than two days left before we all indefinitely will power down,” said Dash. Titro confirmed, as mostly everyone was out of spare power.

“Well,” said Boost, “I think all of that ruckus must’ve been seen by someone. Perhaps we’ll be found before we perish.”

“With any luck, help will find us. Very interesting.” continued Titro. Basher patted them on the back. “Well, it’s about time we get something good going for ourselves!”

“Not to mention I picked up a few souvenirs from out long trip.” Said Dart, he then held out multiple odds and ends from each location, most notably spare power cells for the missile. "They're compatible with hero cores, if I do say so myself." Dart chuckles. The rest of the crew couldn’t help but smile and laugh in relief. This day had had enough ups and downs.

Chapter 20: Mission Complete[]

3 days later…

Boost Team had take refuge in the old sub-ship remains. Surprisingly, the snow shark was nowhere to be found, and was assumed to have migrated elsewhere. The villains X-Chill and Macronin were kept alive and well, and made no attempts to escape. Everyone was just about back at full health, but once again were nearing the end of the supplies they scavenged.

It was about noon when two ships, easily recognized as Hero Factory, descended near the mountains. Basher and Dart had a signal ready, and had no trouble flagging down the ships.

Boost Team was met by two other teams, who were quick to get them under care, along with the villains and gathered research of Nitronix.

“Well, it’s good to see you all survived. Nice job heroes, we’ll take it from here.” Said the other teams. Boost and Titro gladly explained the events of the trip on the way back home.

When they all returned to Hero Factory, Boost and the others were fully debriefed and the villains were put in jail. The heroes were thanked and applauded for their efforts, congratulated for their valiant efforts. Nitronix was then further explored by other hero teams (with greater numbers and caution).

Boost Team went back to their usual duties of aiding and investigating, but none of them could forget or regret the wild adventure they had.

One day, Boost and Titro met up as some new research of Nitronix was being presented.

“Good to see you at ease again, Boost” said Titro.

“Yep, I feel less stressed I guess,” Boost responded, “but I was thinking about Kryone last night.”

“He’s still out there, I’ve thought about him for some time a well.”

“Well, I hope that if- or when, he comes for vengeance, we’ll be here and ready.”

“I think it’ll be a while before we see any more action.”

Boost and Titro laughed, and watched as the reports of Nitronix continued to roll out.

The End[]

Epilogue[]

As Boost and Titro laughed, Kryone sped through the emptiness of space, all alone. Just as the heroes had thought, he was thinking about what had happened, and plotted his revenge. He didn’t say aword, but swore to repay Boost Team for their actions against him. He continued to fly through the void, to who knows where.

  • the pilot
  • Senthols
  • Sabertooth
  • Unknown "The Spy"
  • Mega Snow-Shark
  • Guard Dog/Beast

Interesting Tid-Bits[]

  • This story was originally supposed to take place after the breakout, but due to three of the members: Basher, Dart, and Dash, it was set before
  • Boost was supposed to be the pilot, but it wouldn't have worked out later on in the story
  • The part when Boost explains the reason for there being no female team members was put in last minute
  • In chapter 2, Prazz addresses Basher as "muscles" which is ironic considering they are all robots
  • Splitface was originally planned to go along with the heroes
  • In chapter 5, despite finally finding other signs of life (and giving a fairly long speech), the heroes still lost hope
  • A Barren Wasteland was originally the title of chapter 5
  • The Sabertooth was actually supposed to be tranquilized, but a shot from one of the weapons was more reasonable
  • In chapter 6, Prazz's pun about the mountain being "frozen in time" was last minute, but fitting for his character
  • Basher's interrogation of "The Spy" in chapter 7 was depicted as very harsh, especially since he's a hero
  • The interrogation was also made to be as realistic as possible, with stern expressions, long silences, and brutal beatings
  • In chapter 7, Titro's non-hesitant calls of lying were maybe a bit unbelievable, but fitting for his personality
  • At the end of chapter 7, Boost's complaint of having enough of Unknown's talk was put in last minute
  • The second half of chapter 9 (with Unknown and Macronin) was put in after the initial write-up to fit with later chapters
  • The "beast" which is a shark in chapter 10 was one of the more enjoyable parts of the story to create
  • The shark beast has actually been made as a model specially for the story (coming soon)
  • Chapter 11 gives the first details of the bulky villain X-Chill, who was a very interesting character to cast
  • The core recharging situation was dragged out, and also moved further on in the story (originally set in chapter 8)
  • Chapter 12 was supposed to be titled An Empty Room
  • The initial setting of chapter 13 was written with the idea of a castle structure in mind
  • The idea of the drone swarm was blown way out of proportion to emphasize the hero's complications
  • The reason character Unknown is listed under other is because of his changing position in the story
  • It is assumed the reason the heroes seem to get more savage is because of such a long and tiring voyage
  • There was an alternate plan not put in where the 'generators' cause the planet's axis to fall off balance and explode
  • 'Unknown' was not actually to be the set name for the character, he was dubbed but never actually named
  • Basher's wild ride in the climactic end to the mission almost involved another fake out where the Hero cycle crashed on its way down the mountain
  • Kryone, Unknown, and the rest of the villainous crew have a complicated history, one that may never come to light
  • Although a fairly isolated incident, the middion to Nitronix made quite an impact once released to the media
  • Boost Team jokes about the end of their journey, dubbing it an "icy encounter, challenge, and resolution" when recounting the events
  • This will be the first full-length story written by OonieCacola once fully typed up
  • After going 4+ years unfinished, OonieCacola still plans to post the finished story.  In fact, It has been finished for years, typed just a few less.

Reviews[]

This is pretty early on, but I think the intro was quite well done. You did not give away too much, which is good. However, be sure to keep it from getting too cliche, though. Another good part of this is that you have a rather wide cast of characters, mainly heroes. I find that this can be both a good and bad thing. So, be sure to keep your main character well developed, while the rest of his team are merely supporting characters!

A nice start to the story, and a well put together plot. Like bub said, be sure to focus on specific characters, to keep the story running sufficiently. Other than that, don't stretch the storyline too long, as far as I can tell, the heroes are in a survival situation, and they aren't invincible, but you've done a pretty good job on that part. Overall, a really interesting first story!

After reading around 9 or so parts/chapters, I can see that a lot of effort was put in. This is good. Plot seems well-rounded so far, characters alright. Two things, however. Not much description, and too much dialogue. These go hand-in-hand. You put less dialogue, you automatically have to put in more description.

My rating stays the same, for now.
